Less Data. Lower Peaks. What Does That Mean for Energy?
We’re working to answer it with evidence—not assumptions.
What We Know
CORA AI reduces the volume of unnecessary data moving through the network. CORA AI normalizes video traffic and reduces peak demand. Lower peaks can reduce pressure on infrastructure capacity and potentially affect future provisioning requirements. And network and application infrastructure consume electricity to operate.
The relationship isn’t that simple. Greening of Streaming‘s research emphasizes that energy outcomes depend on where energy is consumed, how equipment responds to changing workloads, and the specific architecture involved. Its current measurement work explicitly separates device, compute, network and other parts of the streaming chain rather than treating them as one proportional system.
The Question We’re Investigating
Can eliminating data waste reduce the energy required to support growing video demand?
If operators can transport less unnecessary data, reduce peak demand, extend infrastructure life, and potentially avoid or defer additional equipment, there are several pathways through which efficiency may affect energy use.
From Assumption to Evidence
We’re Not Interested in Greenwashing. We’re Interested in Measured Impact.
Sky Peak Technologies is working with Greening of Streaming to better understand and validate the relationship between digital waste reduction, network demand, infrastructure utilization, and energy consumption. Greening of Streaming’s work is specifically focused on replacing generalized sustainability assumptions with real-world measurement and evidence-based practices. Its current research includes direct power measurement across streaming technologies and investigation into how technical decisions translate into actual energy consumption.
Our objective is simple: Measure what changes when CORA AI removes unnecessary traffic, and report what the data actually shows.
Energy Validation Is Ongoing. The Waste Reduction Isn’t.
Regardless of the eventual energy measurement, the underlying efficiency gains are already measurable.
CORA AI reduces unnecessary traffic.
It reduces peak demand.
It recovers network headroom.
It can extend the runway of existing infrastructure.
And it allows operators to serve growing video demand more efficiently.
